Anyone in need of the OXYD book?

As far as I can tell, the original version of oxyd on this website and all other mac versions on the internet are not cracked and can not be played without the code-book, which I was also not able to find online anywhere.

The level select codes past level 10 are useless due to them being randomly generated from that point. I have got my hands on a copy of this book, and would be willing to share, would anybody be interested in this?

Welcome to Macintosh Garden, iameatingjam!

And, yes please! If you could upload it, it would be much appreciated!

To scan this book is a life work, isn't it? Wink

YES! It would be a very time consuming process to digitize this, which is why I wanted to make sure it would go to good use before doing so. I wanted to prevent anybody from going through the frustration I did, trying to find a way to play this game!

I do understand that it would be a huge time consumer, but would you still do it eventually? OXYD can be a pain without the codes.

I've begun taking pictures with my phone, I'd say 95+% of the codes are visible but in some squares the ink so dark even I can't make it out in person... This is going to be quite a large filesize, I'd say 50MB or more, where should I upload this when done?

Also, if there is any codes anyone needs while I'm doing this they could post them in this thread.

You could always create a dropbox account, make a shared folder, and paste the file link...

http://www.dongleware.de stopped to support these games some years ago.

It is done! All the pages are separate .jpg files compressed into one .zip. I updated the oxyd page with the download link. Like I said before, not all the codes are visible.

Oh my goodness, I remember this game, now that I see it. Never remembered the name Oxyd until now, but...yeah, I'll definitely be using this at some point.

Out of curiosity, what's on the other pages? It starts on page 34, after all. Also, I'm guessing the other Oxyd games have their own books...I wonder if the books are compatible across versions. Hmm. There's a Yahoo group for Oxyd which has files, but I don't have a Yahoo account. Might make a good comparison point.

Wow, nice job! Must've taken a while. But like what Tanara Kuranov had said, what are on the pages before 34? Were they torn out or something?

The first 33 pages are basically an instruction manual. It explains the game, the controls, the different versions, how to play over a network etc etc, I didn't think that information was necessary.

Would be nice to have the first 33 pages, too, if possible. I can see where you're coming from, though, the codes are the part that's really required. Still, I like to gather everything from a game if I can. Boxshots, cover-to-cover manual, all that.

If anyone has a Yahoo account, there might be files of the books over on the Oxyd Yahoo group we could archive here. I say this for a couple of reasons. First, I'm curious if they also have a quality scan of the Oxyd book, say, maybe some things readable there that aren't here or vice versa (consolidate between the two copies, basically)...who knows, worth a shot, may be useful. I saw a topic that said something about a PDF of one of the books.

Second, I think there's separate books...if not for Oxyd Magnum or Oxyd Extra, I'm pretty sure there's a Per.Oxyd book somewhere. Ever since this got posted, I've been snooping around, trying to find other stuff. There's not a whole lot as far as book scans, it seems like, since most of the versions are cracked.

I will upload the first 33 pages at a later date.

I also came across a yahoo page referencing a copy of the book but I couldn't find out how to access the file and assumed it had been removed.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in the book that this unlocks " all 200 levels" which was confusing to me because I thought oxyd only had 100 levels, so maybe these codes do apply to one or more of the sequels.

You have to be signed into Yahoo (and may have to be a member of the group) to access files. Yahoo groups are fun like that. That's why I'd like whatever's there to be archived elsewhere, if possible. Even if it's not Mac files, there has to be somewhere to put it, even if it's not here.

The original Oxyd actually does have 200 levels (100 single player, and 100 two player levels). Oxyd Magnum (100 single player levels) and Oxyd Extra (30 single player levels) may not have codes, I'm not sure. Pretty sure Per.Oxyd does, though, being the direct sequel (and having another 200 levels). Also, there used to be a freeware Oxyd Extra v2.0, which had the 30 levels from Extra and 30 new levels, but the website is now for something else entirely, and I can't find that anywhere now.

I know, the book is thick and big, and its pages can't be digitalized using a desk scanner.

All right, I did, in fact, access the Yahoo group. There is another pdf of the codes: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rs4lmd6bm6wva3v/OxydCodes.pdf
Maybe there's codes that can be read in one and not the other, maybe not. Not sure. We have a redundant copy now, though.

Here's a PDF of the instruction part of the book, as well: https://www.dropbox.com/s/c99pt71l3156r6j/Oxyd%20Book.pdf

There's no codes for the other games, though. It looks like per.Oxyd has codes, but they haven't been uploaded...and Oxyd Magnum and Oxyd Extra might not even need codes. Not sure, I'll find out when I review these.

Here's documentation for per.Oxyd (which, sadly, has no codes): https://www.dropbox.com/s/59nj7zuw3v7osf6/per.oxyd.pdf

And for Oxyd Magnum: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2hhs29kl3qp3jpt/Mag_help.pdf

I can't get Oxyd to run properly in Basilisk. The ball just skips all over the place even if I only move the trackpad lightly. Does this game just not cooperate with trackpads?

You need to use the 142 build of Basilisk II. Then you set the mouse emulation to "more complete ADB mouse emulation". Otherwise, it'll skip all over the place. A few other games, like Arashi, require the same thing.

Hah, you're playing Oxyd with a trackpad? Best of luck on that.
