can't install games.

Please, for the love of God, someone help me figure this out.

Every time I try to install something on Sheep Shaver it gives me an error message that says "the application program that created it could not be found. Could not find a translation extension with appropriate translators." I expand the files using stuffit expander, and after being expanded they just show up as documents rather than applications.

Not saying this is what you are doing, but it sounds like to me that you have been expanding and extracting your software on the shared drive (the drive that both the emulator and the host OS can use). - Only expand archives onto the emulated hard drive. Otherwise the results you get, are likely destroyed software. The shared drive should only be used for transferring archived & plain data files between the two systems.

I have installed mac os 9 only on my Imac 406. When I try to install games from this site,I get the same errors this fellow got and "this file is too large to open using simple text".I did a clean install when I installed Classic . There should be no shared files. I have only one hard drive. I know I could probably solve my problem by dual boot x/classic but I would rather have just classic on this machine. I have other computers that do x and I like classic games. Is there a file I should download that would help?I'm also having the same problem, the second reason, trying to install antivirus programs. I know it may not be necessary on classic but better safe than sorry. I am using Classilla as a browser.

i have the same problem too - can't get these wonderful games going unless they're .bin or .dsk/.img
would appreciate any advice. i've tried various versions of stuffit.

the strange part is when i went as far as to use pearpc to emulate mac os x to unstuff over there (stuffit expander on my mac SE wasn't able to expand them) - they unstuff as classic applications but when i attach them to email out of the emu => windows, they come out as text files as they do when i unstuff in windows.

i've tried setting the type to APPL in transmac (great program for transfering files over if you have a hdfd model) but no luck there.

i read some post saying some ppl can convert the games to dsk images, though i'm hesitant to beg for that...
