Copy system to another partition - how?

Hi everyone!
I'm new here as well as i'm new in classic Mac, let's say, environment
I've just configured classic Mac emulator with 7.6.1 hardfile but disk operations were quite slow, so i decided to prepare dedicated hardisk. Why not?

OK. Now i've got either hardfile with system or harddisk with one partition running well. Problem is, i cannot figure out, how to copy files from one to another. Stupid, huh?

When i drag MacOS disk to the physical partition, all files are copied but with enclosing folder - that sucks, right? However, selecting items in MacOS window does not works too, because then system copies only "visible" files. What em i doing wrong?

Greets from Poland and i'll be grateful for any suggestion

There are no invisible files in Mac OS, so all you have to do is select the files or applications you want to copy from your "virtual" hard disk and drag/copy them to the physical hard drive.

So why if i copy by dragging, there is 350 items and by moving disk icon to disk - 720?

I can't answer that, because I can't see what you're doing or exactly how you've got things setup. But let me correct something: Mac OS 8 and above (and possibly lower) can have hidden files, but they're usually created by applications that you install; and they aren't nearly as numerous as those of Mac OS X, due to it's Unix base.

If you have Mac OS 8.1 or higher running, you could download a program called Hidden Hunter and use that to make them visible.

But I can find no utility to make possibly hidden files in Mac OS 7.x.x visible. If you have the disks or the CD for 7.6, I'd use that to install it on your hard disk if possible; that will also let you customize your installation to a certain extent and avoid installing some things you may not want.

You can view invisible files, and change to visible if you wish, using Disktop (http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/disktop-452).

I copied my System Folders around accasionally without any problems. Obviously this can only done from within a running Classic Mac and you may have to bless the copied folder to make it work.
Whats puzzling me, that hardfile access speed should be an issue at all on recent host systems.
According to Norton Utilities a hardfile on a sATA drive outperforms every vintage Mac HD.

Ya know, Amiga 3000 even with 060/80Mhz it's not recent host system at all, but works, and it's fun

Anyways, i'm curious - why there is a difference in item amount, depends on copy procedure.

Cool, you must be one of the few here using ShapeShifter. In that case - Yes, a dedicated HHD(partition) will improve performance, of course. I did just that with A-MaxII on my A2000, the Mac had his own SQ555 HFS cartridges as well.
No idea about the odd item numbers, though.

You might also try using the FileTyper utility to clear the "isinvisible" flags on all files on the volume.
