Did I kill Macintosh Garden yesterday?

I was in the middle of a large chunk of uploads, and the site died - I hope it wasn't me to blame Sad

I've looked at some of the downloads. Mostly the math ones. Using Firefox on Windows Vista. From the Math Blaster Mystery download I got the following message. Got some other similar messages and looked at the parent directory. Seems everything after Legends.sit is gone. As far as I can see the xml code allows for 1000 keys, and each goes to a specific download. Am I missing something obvious?

Pity. I remember this game from my first mac SE.

Yeah, we know about this.

It's possible that extreme load took down the server, but I wouldn't know as these crashes don't appear normal...

Mac Garden has had some major screwups as of late. Extended downtime, lots of weird error messages on the home page...

if you see error messages we need to know. As for extended downtime, I've been way too busy lately. Sad

Balrog, do you have any idea why these downtimes occur? What are your (admins) plans to solve the issues?

Really, no offense, but I feel a little unsecure about the future of the MacGarden lately. Despite the effort of many uploaders we're not really going anywhere. There is so much work to be done, mostly on the admin side. Instability, disappearing content, file organization, you name it.

The biggest problem, however, may be the lack of admin <-> user communication. Granted, you do the best you can with little time on your hands, Balrog. But we're in this state for more than a year now. There was a request for donations. Many users (including myself) donated money for a new server. After the money was collected, nothing happened. No news, no announcements, no new server. What are the plans for the MacGarden in the near future?

Don't get me wrong, please. Once again I would like to point out how much I appreciate all the work you've put into the MacGarden. Please don't think I just want to bash you admins. That is not the case. But - just like others - I'm worried about the MacGarden, about a great and wonderful project we've put hours and hours of spare time into.

Please communicate! Please share the current state with us. Let us know what's going on and what to expect.

by the way, posting the above message brought up this error message:

user warning: Duplicate entry '228' for key 'PRIMARY' query: INSERT INTO user_titles_posts (uid, posts) VALUES (228, 1) in /var/www/html/sites/macintoshgarden.org/modules/user_titles/user_titles.module on line 307.

It's because there's nothing automatically pushing uploads to S3. So I have to do it manually.

I don't want it to disappear either :/ ...

I have no control over such things. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Maedi is the one in charge of the server hosting, and donations. I just keep the site running. I'm sorry I can't say more, as I don't know what's going on... Sad

We reached the donation total for a new server - is that change ever going to occur?
