DiskWorrior 2

Anyone got DiskWorrior 2 stashed away somewhere? My Disk First Aid returns Problem: Invalid BTree Header , 0, 0. Of course, any other suggestion will be appreciated, but surfing around on the net for a solution it appears that DiskWorrior is the best bet to fix without reformatting.

What OS are you running? We have a nice selection of Norton Utilities here that should be able to fix that BTree issue with no problem.

Also, I could get my hands on a copy of DiskWarrior for Classic, but you'll need either a Zip Drive, USB, or second HD for it to work.

Thanks for the speedy reply - this is community. I'm running OS 9.2.2 on an iMac G3 with USB and partitioned HD if that will help. I've got OSX 10.4 installed there. I'll have a look at the norton goodies.

Oh! thanks MCP, didn't see this on coming! Cheers

The app has been removed from the DW page (because Alsoft is still asking money for it on their site), so like I said, give Norton a shot first, and if you still need DW, let us know. Smile

By the way, a partition won't work with DW because you'll need a second startup disk, hence the need for your USB.

OK great, I'm running Disk Doctor at the moment. Yes, I found the little p.s. on the Alsoft site under system requirements: Please contact our Technical Support Department to order. Thanks again guys.

After you get it fixed, check out OnyX if you don't have it already. It's a terrific freeware utility that has helped me a lot over the years:

Well, so far so good. Norton fixed the problem, thanks Vitoarc. Yes, I have a copy of OnyX on my G5 Leopard.I'm still a bit skittish to make use of it properly, but I have used it to correct file permission issues with success. I imagine, an older version would have been called Ony os Ony9 Laughing out loud

Good deal shellyfrank, glad to hear about your success!

OnyX can be somewhat unsettling to use considering it's power. But it's really just a front end GUI for the Unix already built into OSX. The thing I've found about it is, just don't go performing needless maintenance/cleaning with it if you're not having problems. It sound like that's what you're doing... but if you are having issues, it's great for fixing them.

I also clone my HD regularly, so I'm really not too concerned about screwing anything up...
