Hi altogether,
Has someone managed it to configure one of the instant messengers supporting Jabber to get it to work with the Facebook chat? As this chat is based on Jabber, I think it could be done, somehow...
Thank you very much!

Here's Facebook's guide on setting up clients you can use for reference: http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=16739
Here's some Mac OS 9 Jabber clients:

http://jabbernaut.sourceforge.net/index.html
Alas, I do not have a Facebook account.
(yet....) So do let us know if it works out.
Well, I tried. The problem seems to be that neither of these two clients accept the "@" in the username, that is required to login to the fb chat.
I also tried just copying the complete name including the "@", but then it says that the username contains illegal characters...
any ideas? Alternatives?
Thanks!
@Retrowurst:
What happens if you set a Facebook username (so your Facebook page is at https://facebook.com/username), then use username instead of the email address?

Excellent walk through. Thanks for making it and sharing.
The only other thing I can think of is using a IRC gateway service like BitBee.

Hm. I must have posted without refreshing.
Anyway, yeah. Excellent guide.
