Factory The Industrial Devolution won't run in SheepShaver

Hey guys. Remember me?

I wanted to give Factory a spin in SheepShaver, but it won't work! It demands I set the resolution to 256 colors--a reasonable request (I do it) but then crashes with a type 3 error!

I thought it was a FAT binary and compatible with PPC, but is it? Please tell me what's going on!

The Binary type (68k, PPC, or if it both) can be checked with NativeChecker, which is available here at MacGarden.

Yes I do. Remember. Smile
Had a short glance at Factory in SS OS8.6 host is 10.8.4. (Results on other hosts may differ.)
No problems so far in 256 colors, but I did not actually PLAY the game.
Its coded 68k only, but that does not mean it cant run in SS.

Except for the fact that SheepShaver doesn't run 68k apps without an experimental 68k decompiler. However, it was a pleasant surprise to find that enabling this option in SheepShaver allowed Factory to run, to a satis"factory" level.

Hm, I never used the "68k experimental" checkbox in SS, but many 68k only apps run fine.
Some are working even better than the matching PPC offsprings.
Don´t ask me...

(The programmers of the emulators will know, but if they are watching us, they won´t tell.)

Edit: I´m using the Old World ROM for SS exclusively. Don´t know whether thats an issue.
