Funny Catch 22

I just downloaded Toast Titanium 5.2 from this website and to my surprise I found the CD to be in .toast format and compressed into .sit format. So I decompress using Stuffit Expander and hit a brick wall. I want to mount the .toast file so I can install toast from it but to do that I need toast already installed. Funny little "oops" I thought.

P.S. I'm going to have to install a windows version of toast I think to unpack the image file first then try and shove it on my mac from there.

Happens to all of us. I was rebuilding my old QS 2002 (800MHz) to sell on eBay. Everything is good to go, but I was just installing extras as a courtesy. My only copy of the full Stuffit 7.0.3 package has of course been compressed by me to save disk space, in a Stuffit archive of course. So I have to boot up my PMG5, copy it back to my PMG5 to uncompress and then copy it back to the QS again.

For your situation, .toast is just a .iso. It's mountable in almost all of the Windows OS's and in Mac OSX (by the built-in DiskImageMounter).
And there's a Toast Image Mounter somewhere on this site .....

It's often funny to see novices caught out by this and getting into a panic (here and on MacRumors and Apple Discussions). It's suprising and even more funny when it's one of the clever ones like you.

Thanks, I basically opened it up in PowerISO and burnt it to a CD. Then threw it into the eMac and away it installed. No biggie, I just thought it was a funny situation.

P.S. I did have to think about it for a second before I thought of the solution haha.

ToastMounter on OSX requires Toast installed
