Game Request : El-ixir

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know where to get the game El-ixir ? It was a board game for two players in which you had to capture more cells than your opponent to win. I played it in the old days of Mac OS 7.x. I remember that the version of the game was "3.0.3", and it was a shareware.

Actually, I am making this request because I was thinking of coding my first game this summer (or at least start working on it Wink ), and I was looking for something that would not be overly complicated, so I thought I could make a game with the same principles as El-ixir, and it would be multi-platform and open-source. However, I don't remember exactly what were the rules in El-ixir. If nobody has it, it's not really a big problem since I remember the general idea, and we would probably improve the game and it wouldn't be exactly the same, but I'd be interested in replaying the original, and it could be worth to add it here on Macintosh Garden.

I've only found the game on this page in Japanese, but the download links are dead !

Thanks

That's great, thanks a lot ! Will you upload it on Macintosh Garden too ?
Yeah, it think the game was included in a lot of CD's at the time, such as the ones you got with magazines.

Here's version 3.0.3 from the Wayback Machine, as well as a Windows version with the shareware warnings disabled (unfortunately, it looks like there was no such Mac version).

BTW, you might have to reconsider those plans for a remake. The footer on the author's current site (linked by mrdav) says "All rights including the rights to adaptation to other mediums and platforms are strictly reserved."

Thanks, and you are right about the copyright, I noticed it too. I am surprised however that I didn't find that online version when searching myself. I'll see if I can contact the author, and if it's not possible I'll make a rather different game.
