Getting the Games DB in XML-format?

Just wondering if there's a possibility to get the game section of MG's data base in something Excel can handle?
Looking through my personal list and realise it's not up-to-date, at all. Plus there's stuff in boxes not catalouged and DL's from other places etc. So, when all these Classic Macintosh SW are in a list it would be nice to compare what's here and, especially, not.

Here's what I do ...

  • go to the Games uploaded so far page and wait for it to fully load
  • perform a Select All and then Copy from the Edit menu of your web browser (or use the keyboard shortcuts)
  • switch to Excel or a word processor and perform a Paste from the Edit menu

You'll have some extra text top and bottom to delete, but the full list will be there in alphabetical order (games and apps mixed).

The problem is that new games and apps are being added all the time, so you have to repeat that process whenever you want and updated list on your own computer.

The process could fairly easily be scripted on a modern(ish) Mac.

I know what would be more useful, and that's a one-click link that downoads everything on here instantly (even over a dial-up connection) Wink
