Greetings from papa and deni

Just wanted to say hi and express my thanks for this great web site.

I mostly hadn't touched a Mac since the university computer lab circa 1987 until a friend gave me a Power Mac G4 Cube he'd had sitting idle in a drawer.

The Mac is a truly amazing machine that has had a big influence on so many systems that have come later.

I was glad to find this site where so many great programs from yesteryear have found a good home. Wink

Welcome, papa & deni

You have a nice friend (to give you a Cube) Smile

Definitely. Although the system he gave me is just the Cube, power supply, and speakers, I see that that kind of set is going for around 150 USD at auction.

Also, the Cube's CD drive ejector is broken. Does Apple still service models as old as the G4 Cube?

No, though there are other options

Such as unofficial repair shops?

There is that. Or other alternatives, such as;
Finding a suitable manual on how to take the Cube apart and replace broken parts yourself.
Purchase an external USB CD/DVD player/writer

In support of MikeTomTom's suggestion here's a link to iFixit's well documented guides on repairing the Mac Cube. I myself used their guide on replacing the LCD panel on the wife's iMac 24" which was the first time for me opening an Intel iMac.

Welcome aboard, papa. Always wanted a Cube myself for aesthetically appealing OS 9 computing but couldn't get my hands on an affordable system. Hope yours will last a long time and have fun traveling to the good old days Smile
