Hello everyone

Hi, i havent visited mac garden for years. Long time ago when the site's interface was an old mac desktop, i uploaded lots of games in here, that is, if this is the same macintosh garden with a new look, the one with the underdogs.

Are the old folks still here, Bel, appleIIuser, daxeria, old iron...

Welcome back!

The administrator of the old Macintosh Garden disappeared a while ago. More recently, Home of the Underdogs lost their hosting. However, it's back now, with nearly all games (a few are stii unprocessed I think, there's a post on the front page about that but be careful of duplicates), and many more up. Our upload limit is 400 MB, which allows for many CDROM games (We're looking for a solution for multidisc games).
Also there's an Apps section which the old Mac Garden didn't have.

The old UI was rather messy; we're using Drupal and a few modules for this site. Nearly all the site (except for the home page) is valid HTML.
Maedi and I are the admins (see  http://macintoshgarden.org/the-team ).

Daxeria is here; I'm not sure if appleII_user is here (IIgs_user could be him Smile ). Take a look at the comments and the recent changes to see what's going on.

Great to have you back!

Well, it's nice to see mac garden up and running again, i just uploaded Elite Air Hockey in sitx bin format. I haven't tested it under any emulators, i got an old ibook on the side, which runs OS 9.2.2, i carried EAH with an USB flashdisc, compressed with stuffit v13.0 in sitx bin format and uploaded it. Hope it works.

Please don't use .sitx if possible. It's very difficult to decompress. Also Classic Mac OS can't handle it.
We recommend Stuffit 4 for 68K stuff, Stuffit 5 for PPC / pre-OSX stuff, and zip for ISO and toast images as well as OS X stuff. 10.4 and up have a built in zip utility.

We have both versions of Stuffit in the apps/utilities section. These work in basilisk II.

I'll convert this one to .sit if necessary.

Well, i'll use stuffit 5 next time, i'll have to install it to my old ibook first, it uses stuffit 7. Btw, as far as i can see, anybody can enter the game pages and remove the uploaded file. How do you people deal with that?

Except Bel, who left the old MacGarden long before its shutdown.

hi, guys.

okay, here's the thing. i downloaded the stuffit deluxe collection here, opened the img files, copied the installers to the flashdisc, copied them to my old ibook, but OS 9 does not recognize the installers. they are just blank files with a blue "PC" written on them. so what i can do is this, i can compress stuff with stuffit 7 which is already there. almost everything i got is in the old mac garden directory which is linked here anyway, if i see any exceptions, i'll use stuffit 7.

and since elite air hockey wasnt available in the old mac garden, you'll have to stuffit with v.5

@toprak: You´d better copy the img´s rather than the content of them to your iBook. The img files should be recognized by Disk Copy in Classic/OS 9 and the content decompressed intact. HTH!

About deleting files:
So far it hasn't been a problem because people delete an old file to replace it with a new one. It shouldn't be a problem because a file isn't really gone unless (a) the page is deleted or (b) one of us deletes it manually. Only the link will disappear and only in the current revision of the page (which can be easily reverted).

OS X stores resource forks differently on PC disks than OS 9. Just take the whole archive over and expand it on the other system. If that's what you're already doing, then drag the .sit onto Stuffit Expander.

None of the advice worked, and i tried it all. I replaced Elite Air Hockey sitx bin with sit, but it's v.7 Well, a lot of games people reload from old mac garden is stuffit 6 and 7 too anyway. Maybe the best solution is to load or link stuffit it v7 in here.

That is strange. I'll look into it.

StuffIt 7 should be OK. I understand they changed the format in Stuffit 9 or 10.

I need to get MY collection up ... I have a ton of great stuff! (:
