Is there anyway to have an emulated internal hard drive in SheepShaver? I have strong reason to believe that the lack of one is what's causing Ferazel's Wand to crash.

Not in any other way than how the ordinary HDD volumes are emulated. BasiliskII can/could mount SCSI volumes, but not SheepShaver. However you could try a huge read/write capable image created in SheepShaver with Disk Copy. Mount it and check if the game recognize it as a hard disk.
How can I do it in BasiliskII?
I used to run Ferazel in OS 8, so Basilisk might run it too.
Nope, Ferazel's Wand is PPC-only.
In BasiliskII GUI or preferences there´s a tab named 'SCSI' where you fill in the path under one of the marked SCSI ID:s.
If Ferazel's Wand is PPC-only, then SCSI settings in Basilisk II probably will not be of much use to Ferazel-X...
The Anonymous comment made on the Ferazel's Wand page (back in 2009) is also probably significant.
Depending on how badly Ferazel-X wants to play this game on a Mac, real PPC's capable of playing this game are super cheap on eBay ($5 - $20 for a G3 iMac), or free if looking in the right places (dumpsters, car boot sales, thrift shops etc)...
