Japanese Mac Games ?

Hi guys,

I'm wondering - since the Mac was quite successful in Japan as well, there must be plenty of software available over there. However, over all those years I've seen only very few games from Japan. Does anyone know a good japanese page for Mac (classic) shareware / freeware? Possibly even something comparable to the Mac Garden ?

ありがとございます! :-)

What was the name of the pink manga fish desktop distraction ? Kingyo ? I'll still have it on CD, if only I can remember the name ...

You can find some here: http://www.sakaigame.com/ That's the only one that springs to mind right now.

I have some Mac OS 9 games that are Japanese... but they may be a little... risque... (I was young!)

I don't even know what their names are, as they were mangled into non-JP characters by the old Mac OS. If there's any interest, I guess I could upload them ;o

@Bolkonskij:

This one is kind of interesting: the OLD Treasures Library. Check the various "Library" links. Most of the archives are pre-SSW 7.0 - and some, but not all of the archives are native Japanese softwares. If you can't display the pages in a Japanese font, the archive names (DL links) with lots of "??????'s" will be a clue to what may be an actual Japanese developed software.

You can also get Kanji SSW 6.0.8 and Japanese versions of MacWeb , Netscape 1.x and Mosaic here.

Hi Bolkonskij,

I don't have many Japanese games, but I do have a fair bit of Japanese software that I'll be eventually uploading someday. I do have a cool translation tool too.

If you see anything you'd especially like on ebay.co.jp, I may be able to arrange shipping for you, if the sale is only within Japan.

Personally, I'd like to see The Tower II (Yoot Tower)'s expansion packs (sold as "Towerkit" in Japan) come around to Macintosh Garden. There was also some downloadable content on the (now-dead) OpenBook9003 website.

That reminds me. I think I have Tower 1.2 somewhere.
