LaserWriter help please?

I have a LaserWriter Select 360, both pages were printed with the same brand new Apple cart replaced last week. The one on the right was printed this evening after it sat for several days. Anyone know why this would happen all of a sudden? I have the Apple service manual and am not afraid to disassemble it but I have to know why this might be happening first.
Thanks.
Paul.

I have an HP Laserjet printer that showed a similar pattern. I replaced the toner cartridge and the problem went away. Note that it was painful to toss the cartridge because it wasn't empty and the new one was $89.

You may need a new fuser roller by the look of the recurring marks down the centre of the page?

Have you cleaned the corona wire?

Apart from that, I'm at a loss (unless someone adjusted the density knob inside).

PS. You can use Toner Tuner in MacOS 7/8/9 to adjust the amount of toner used (should get rid of that excess). I uploaded it here once a LONG time ago.

Hello, first, I say this almost every post, it sure is difficult to remember to come here to look for responses as I am so used to instant email responses to posts from all the otter forums I use.

I haven't disassembled it yet. I did clean the toner roller and got different results. What I have discovered though is we paid only $9.00 for this "new" toner cart from somewhere. I just ordered a real Apple cart for $89 and we'll see what happens after that. I can't see how it could be a problem inside the printer with only 2400 pages being printed. Could be but I'll wait before I take it apart.
I don't even know what a corona wire IS although I did print out the entire service manual, some 356 pages.
I use SSW 6.0.8 and do not want 7 so Toner Tuner wouldn't help but thanks anyway.

macmeister, Toner Tuner does not seem to be on MacGarden. grawling.computing, however, promised to upload it: http://macintoshgarden.org/forum/fresh-meat
On the web there is an update: http://www.applefritter.com/node/12097

There should be an adjustment knob INSIDE the machine when open, which will allow density adjustments.

I'm pretty sure there was one on my old B&W Laserwriter NT w-a-a-a-y back in the past.

After printing about 25 pages it's printing almopst perfectly, it appears to be a bad cartridge and I have a real Apple one on order. $85 or so compared to the cheapo $9.00 I paid for this one. But I am very pleased with it as it looks brand new. Only 2440 or so pages ever printed with it.
