Mac Mini G4 System Restore Disks

I would like to get classic up and running on my mac mini G4.

At the moment I've installed OSX10.4 and then copied the system folder form OS9.2.2 CD to the hard drive then tried starting classic. That was a fail... the classic environment says the system folder cannot be copied.

I have retail osx 10.4 disk and os9 9.2.2 disk.

I assume there was a custom OS9 install for mac mini's similar to the G4 MDD version.

please help

Which Mac Mini G4 ? and which OS9.2.2 CD ?
Have you tried the MDD OS9.2.2 system folder ? I use this for Classic on my PMG5 and PBG4, it works a treat, better than the System Folder included in the original CDs for these systems and meant for Classic.

Also... when this Mac Mini drive was formatted with 10.4; Were the Classic HD drivers installed, so Classic would be able to be used?

My OS9 Disk is retail disk.

max1zzz,

that would be very kind if you upload that for me. I would highly appreciate it.

I'll try few things after work today.

- reformat - make sure that os9 drivers are installed.
- try the MDD os9 general disk image

Thanks for the response.

Again, whch Mac Mini is it ? What CPU speed ?

There never was an OS9.2.2 retail Install disk, so is it OS9.2.1 ? or earlier ? Or is it a "copy" of a disc ? or is it an install disc (grey) but you don't know which Mac it is for ?

There may be an OSX Installer on that OS9.2.2 disc, which would install a suitable OS9.2.2 (or whatever) onto your Mac Mini. Copying the System Folder off the CD is never a good idea, if it's there, it's designed for bootong from the CD to the Installer, not for running Classic, nor for booting from hard disk to the Finder.

I'm sure you'll have outstanding success with the MDD OS9.2.2 image.

OSX 10.4 is retail cd's
OS9 is also a retail cd. again i'll verify

grab stuffit extractor (any version past 7 will do) and drop the first segment into the app
