MACWARS

Does anybody have a copy of Macwars? It came up on ebay recently: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130357230489

Looks really interesting - but I've never seen it as a download on the web.

There are some screenshots as part of the auction: http://img.inkfrog.com/click_enlarge1.php?image=mac1.jpg&username=elginx...

Well, hopefully it went to a philanthropist who will upload it here and not to some douchebag who will hide it in his closet for all eternity...

It's probably destined for the closet. That's the problem with boxed vintage mac stuff. For me MacWars is the holy grail of retro gaming. No one seems to know anything about it.

Yep, but I think we all have our little treasures,
that just want to keep to ourselves forever, this may be the case...

I have one too that hasn't been mentioned on any site,
I still have the original Media,
and it is not destined just for my closet, but for my grave.. Tongue

so I feel related to the "douchebag" mentioned already
but personal treasures, are exactly just that.

So what's the harm in uploading it first before hoarding it? I just don't understand if you like something why you would keep it away from everyone. When I like something I want everyone to know it!

I agree with Attila. If everybody took Euryale's 'personal treasures' approach many games would be lost forever. It seem plain mean spirited to benefit from other peoples generosity in uploading and sharing games whilst withholding your own treasures. Furthermore - there is a real danger that some games - particularly older 80's ones - will be lost forever as the original media they are on decays.

Sites like Macintosh Garden are valuable living museums which propagate / perpetuate and keep these games alive.

I know it is kinda mean, I accept that, I guess that's my dark side (or the Gollum's Syndrome),
but I have shared here (Mac Garden) EVERYTHING ELSE I've got,
so I've been Generous too..

..except my Precious, little precious, Tongue

2 of the aforementioned douches playing MacWars ....
"MacWars!" Video > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1JOheTBz5c

I contacted them 10 minutes ago & asked for a copy so I can UL it to Macintosh Garden.

...and hopefully they won't come here and read the 'douche' reference before they send it to you Wink

Given the fact that I asked them to send it to *me* rather than even mentioning
Macintosh Garden in the first place -- much less asking them to UL it --
the likelihood of that happening is nil.

Speaking of which, there's been no response as of 1500031410.

I think you should reconsider your terminology "playing".

"crashing" would be a more appropriate title Smile

I just uploaded an image of my original disk of MacWars. Unfortunately, I still did not crack it, its protection is very hard to break...

Thanks for uploading Gael. I wonder how it can be cracked?!?

MacWars on ebay again: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Apple-Macintosh-Game-Macwars-New-Factory-Sealed-MI...

I wish I could justify the $70, but I really can't.
