Mighty Mike (Power Pete) Controls Help

I just set up sheep saver along with an OS 9, and downloaded mighty mike (power pete). When I go into the game the only controls during it that it will let me use is my mouse's left, right, and scroll click. On the main menu i am able to use the left and right keys to move around on the menu selections though. On the control menu for the game (from that main menu) it won't let me click on anything or move to keyboard controls. All it does is show that I'm using the shoot control when i click the mouse. I'm running it on a mac retina and osx 10.9. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to remember the name of this game for years and recently stumbled across, I would love to get this running. I don't know a lot about the technical stuff of the emulation so the only thing i could think of trying is to use a new rom? or to try it in basilisk 2?

The controls seem to work just fine in Basilisk using a IIci and 7.5.3.

I never use the mouse for PP/MM.
Use the arrow keys to move around - the space bar to shoot - the "R" key to see where the bunnies are and the command key to switch weapons. You have to manually switch between keyboard and mouse control according to this readme. I have never made it past the last Fun House level. Probably a wall that has to be walked through somewhere to get the last bunny. There is a cheat to get to level 5 without finishing the Fun House though.
