Native stuffit 5.5 needed for powerbook 520c

First of all, I believe Macs will be around when Windows goes way of the dodo.

I have scoured the net for a working stuffit expander 5.x so I can install it on my powerbook and replace my 4.x. I am running 7.6 finder version and I eagerly await the ability to unstuff software from this site. Can anyone help me?

Actually it is here at MG:

If that is what you are looking for. Stuffit Deluxe might more useful, in case you would like to stuff/upload something of your own archives.

I already saw that and it's in zip format. I tried to unzip it using windows, then mailed it to myself. However, it asked if it can open in plain text. Do I have to make a disk image and what can I use to do this?

Note: I am using an actual Mac, not an emulator. I just wanted to make sure it was clear, not trying to sound rude.

SOLVED!

I have found a 5.5 version as a sit that is readable from 4.1. I will upload it as a native file so other users can find it.

It is also at this site:http://www.sfsu.edu/ftp/mac/utils/aladdin_exp55.hqx

I think it is safe to add this file to the Stuffit Expander 5.5 page given above.

That .hvf file was originally a Disk Copy 6.3 disk image file (before Windows got its hands on it and mangled its Creator & File types).

Mailing it to yourself, your Mac will give the attachment plain-text Creator & File Types to any file it doesn't know about.

You can "convert" this .hfv back to a Disk Copy 6.3 file by using a program such as "ResEdit" or "Creator Changer" or any other program that allows the changing of Creator & File Types of files.

If you changed the "Creator Type" to ddsk and the "File Type" to dimg on this .hfv file you would find you can then double-click the resulting icon and have it open up with Disk Copy 6.3 (assuming that you have Disk Copy 6.x installed) and it would then mount on your real Mac's desktop.

Moot point I guess as I see that you found a copy that you could access, elsewhere. Just letting you know that even though you got this file to your Mac in an unusable form, it was still recoverable. Its good that you found something that works for you too.

If it's any help, I have StuffIt Expander in several file formats in the "Essentials" folder here:
