Need help finding this game! Been years, still haven't found it! (Small $$Cash Reward$$)

Hoping this is the right place to ask, but I need help trying to find a game I used to play as a kid in the late 90's. I've been looking for years trying to find it, but so far, I've had no luck.

I played the game in the late 90's early 2000's on an old apple G4 on either OS 8 or OS 9. I'm pretty sure it was some form of shareware or freeware I had downloaded from the internet. The textures and graphics were pretty nice for a 2D game.

The best way I could describe the game is that it was a strategy game similar in style to a Sokoban/Bomberman/Cosmonutz type game where the player played as a space ship captain whose mission is to send aliens back to their home planet.

Each level would get progressively harder and harder as the player had to push boulders/rocks into position to try and trap an alien to warp/send it back to its home planet, all while trying to avoid being touched/caught by one of the aliens. The player had to continue trapping the aliens by moving the boulders/rocks until all aliens were cleared from the level. Power ups could be found on almost every level, that would enable a player to wipe out or freeze all aliens on that level.

Again, it looked similar in style to a Sokoban game and another game called Cosmonutz, But played similar to Cosmonutz.

If anyone can help me out here, I would really appreciate it. I've been looking for years, and still haven't found it. It was a great game.

Could be - http://macintoshgarden.org/games/toxic-ravine (this game has blocks/boulders)

Or - http://macintoshgarden.org/games/balderdoush (eating the path and collecting diamonds to make exit appear)

Similar to bomberman - http://macintoshgarden.org/games/greebles (theres a powerup where enemies can be frozen)

(Side note): There was this other game called "Alien Attack" which was in a kinda top-down view, and the characters where really small. Background picture was an alien with a bowl of cereal, I think you where the alien itself and you where collecting snacks on each stage lol.

Sheesh, I remember Sokoban. Had it on my LC 575, been gone ever since. Any ideas of its where bouts?

Hope this list helps! Smile

Thanks! I took a look at the games you suggested. Sadly, non of them were it. I do remember It was a top-down view type of game though.

Just to update, and I hope this adds to my description. There is another game for PC that I found by the name of "Alien Invasion - 2.03" which is pretty similar in description to what im looking for, however the game sprites/characters look different. The game that I've found most similar to what I'm looking for is a more recent game and I've already mentioned it in my last description. It's called "Cosmonutz". I hope this all makes it easier to help me find the game I'm looking for. Again, I've been looking for years, and I hope someone can help me.

Sorry, but no... These weren't it either. I appreciate the help so far. It's similar to "Cosmonutz". Just to clarify again, the game was a "Top Down" style 2d strategy game, but the graphics were nice. The premise for the game (if I can remember correctly) was along the lines of; you land or crash (I can't remember which) somewhere as a blue space captain, and your mission was to trap the aliens by moving the rocks/boulders. I remember playing it in the late 90's, maybe even early 2000's. The music on the tittle screen of the game was really cool. Again, I really appreciate the help so far! I've been looking for years, and it's driving me insane that I can't find it.

Thanks again for the help so far. I really do appreciate the effort. Sadly, I still haven't found it yet... (Incase this helps) Just to follow up, I do remember it looking similar to a game called "Space Captain McCallery" but with just a single area per level and with better graphics. Again, it plays similar to "Cosmonutz", but the aliens move around, and there are power ups, like freeze (which turns the aliens blue and freezes them in their place), Bomb (which clears the level of all aliens) etc...

I really hope all of these details that I have been providing help... I wish I could provide more information, but this is pretty much all I can remember. Any ideas?

No not quite... Remember, it's a 2D Top-Down style strategy game (Not a shooter), and each level is a small square'ish shaped area with stereotypical looking aliens (green with black eyes and big heads), and the objective is to move rocks/boulders around to trap the aliens, which either warps them back to their planet or kills them (I forgot). You have power ups such as: a Bomb which clears the level, a Freeze power up which freezes the aliens in their place and a time power up that slows them down. (You can find these power ups when moving the rocks). Your character in the game is a blue space captain.

The game looks kind of similar to a new game that came out in the apple App Store called Cosmonutz, except it plays a little differently.

It's been a while since I've gotten a response. I feel this is due to the fact that the game I am looking for, was either of limited distribution, or just very hard to identify based on the description that I have given. Therefore, I'm willing to revise my description upon request or answer any questions about my original description of the game, and offer a small cash reward in the sum of 10$ (it's not much, but it's something) via PayPal, to whoever can find this game for me (Must post a link). I'm very serious about finding this game. I will review the link to determine if it's the game that I've been looking for, and I'll keep everyone posted. Please help me find this game!

Thanks

Is there anything else you remember about it? Whether you played it on 68k or PPC, Mac OS 7, 8, 9, X ? Whether it had a shareware message, etc. etc. ?

Hello everyone!

I've revised my description of this game to hopefully make it easier to identify. I played this game post 1999, maybe even as late as 2002. I remember playing it on a PPC Mac G4 with a version of OS9, and I'm pretty sure it was Shareware. Hopefully this helps!

The best way I could describe the game is that it was a strategy game similar in style to a Sokoban/Bomberman/Cosmonutz/SpaceCaptain type game where the player played as a blue space ship captain whose mission is to send aliens back to their home planet. The player had to continue trapping the aliens by moving the boulders/rocks until all aliens were cleared from the level. Power ups such as: a Bomb which clears the level, a Freeze power up which freezes the aliens in their place and a time power up that slows them down that could be found on almost every level by moving the boulders/rocks. Each level is a small square'ish shaped area with stereotypical looking aliens, (like the AlienWare alien) round black eyes, big heads and small bodies.

The music on the tittle screen of the game was really cool. Again, I really appreciate the help so far! I've been looking for years, and it's driving me insane that I can't find it. I'm willing to revise my description again upon request or answer any questions about my original description of the game, and offer a small cash reward in the sum of 10$ (it's not much, but it's something) via PayPal, to whoever can find this game for me (Must post a link). Someone has to have an idea of what it is! I would love to hear some more suggestions, because I've been looking for many years and still haven't found it! I'm sorry that these are all of the details that I can give, but I really do appreciate the suggestions that people have provided so far. Please help!

I know it's not the game you're looking for, but it kind of sounds a bit like an old SNES game called Troddlers, which kind of looked and felt like Lemmings.

There are other old Mac game communities out there, you know!

Is it "Otto Matic" by Pangea? This game was bundled with the eMac install DVD around 2002 or 3, plays on 9 & X. The game-play sounds kind of similar to what you were looking for. Lots of screenshots for this game here. Still being sold by Pangea for ios & os x

MikeMikeTom: Doesn't even sound close. "The textures and graphics were pretty nice for a 2D game." And Otto Matic's a 3D game.

As the original poster did imply it was a shareware or freeware game, does he remember the price of said game?

Try Sloppy Sokoban. It has boulders in it (and a top-down view), but I'm not sure if anything else matches.

You're quite right, Otto Mattic is a 3D game. I tried it out 1st time today. The description of the game theme was close, but the 3D gives it a no from me too.

Hey-- I don't know if this is any closer, but this was a game that came to mind when you mentioned it being like Sokoban.

http://www.dreamdawn.com/bakudanjin/ <-- Only just figured out what the title was... hope it helps, even if it's not the right game!

Unfortunately, non of these suggestions were it. Thanks again everyone for the help but I still haven't found it. It really means a lot to me that people are willing to help me find this game. I look forward to more suggestions. Any help is good and much appreciated. I think I've given as good of a description as I could give.

It does match your description by quite a bit Smile

True, but that's more like Gauntlet than it is a puzzle game. The game is more like Sokoban. Also, that was designed for early 90's and late 80's Macs, not so much a G3 or a G4.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I still haven't found it but I really appreciate the help so far. Keep the suggestions coming! I am still optimistic that it will pop up eventually, or maybe someone will remember it if there's enough detail in my description to jog someone's memory.
