Need help with my mac and appleshare

Hello gardeners,
i have a powerbook 540c ppc and a beige g3, filesharing used to work on them. But now when i try to copy files over 40MB or a lot of little files, one of the computers will crash, depending on which one i'm copying from.

I have mac os 8.6 on the powerbook, and 9.2.2 on the beige g3.
The beige g3 has Appleshare IP 6.3 on it, if that makes a difference.

thank you

ps, on a second note, is there any archive spliters that i could use to get these files on my powerbook?

try downloading AppleShare Ip 6.2 and open doc for the 8.6, and I think that there is another update for the beige.
And i read that it will do that if it does not have enough ram.

Can't advise on AppleShare IP, as I don't use this software.

Archive splitters:
Stuffit Deluxe 5.5 is good on classic Mac OS for this; go "Translate" menu, "Segmenting" sub-menu, "Segment..." then choose the archive to split and size you want for the segments.

Disk Copy 6.3 with the added "Disk Copy 6.3 Scripts" is good at making segmented multiple parts from existing large Disk Copy image files.

[Edit]: And SplitIt! v.2.0 (a fresh upload) It works pretty good and is easier than Stuffit and Disk Copy to use.

@gajbooks, Thanks for the info about appleshare IP, i think that RAM problem was the couplet.
and @MikeTomTom, Thanks for the archive splitters.

I Got it to copy but i think i had to erase the beige g3's hard drive(or something like that)
I know longer have my trusty powerbook 540c, it died this january. Crying (couldn't find the OS disks)
And i also no longer have that beige g3 Laughing out loud . Got an iMac g3 indigo Big smile .
