Is there a way to patch certain System 6-based games so they'd run properly in more modern systems (Mac OS 9)?
Can't I just fiddle around with something in ResEdit?

P.S.: I know I could use mini vMac, but I really do want to run everything natively on my iMac G3.
@Temporary Joe:
Nope, you'd need to get an older Mac (preferably a Mac II-series or a Quadra). A lot of old software is incompatible with the 32bit memory manager.
In case you aren't aware, there is a variant of mini vMac for PPC and even 68k (though on 68k, it's horribly slow
)
Yes, I do have mini vmac on my iMac G3, and it is easier to use (since HFS isn't locked...)
I was just wondering, though.
Like Balrog said,
the 32-bit addressing broke a lot of old software, not just games, ie. Think C v5.
then Sound manager v3 broke a lot of old games too.
then compressed resources broke even more software.
I'm sure that there were more big changes that broke more than it fixed.
