Need some help getting Prime Target to work under Mac OS 9 with Sheepshaver

Before I begin, I just want to say I am new to the forums and just recently finally got Mac OS 9 installed through Sheepshaver on Windows 7 X64.

So far, I updated Prime Target to 1.2 with the included SIT file and it plays well with just keyboard. The mouse aiming feels like an emulated joystick, is there anyway to fix this? Also is it possible to make PT render at anything higher than 640x480? If I have the desktop at 1024x768 the game window is tiny and I have to lower the desktop res down.

In the options, there is a checkbox to enable hardware acceleration, but it is greyed out; Is there any way to enable it? Also I can't figure out how to enable Millions of colors in the game even though i can have that on in the desktop.

Also, is there any way to enable 16 bit audio in the game as well?

One last thing unrelated to the game itself, what version of Mac OS 9 works best with Sheepshaver? Does it only work with 9.0.4?

Some other info:

I am emulating on top of Windows 7 64 bit.
Using a Radeon HD 6870 video card.

Sheepshaver settings I am using:

Fullscreen (1024p or 640p)
Ram set to 1024MB
Newworld86.ROM
Checked Dont use CPU when idle
Checked ignore illegal Memory Accesses

If there is any other info you need, let me know.

I'm dropping in to say that I have the same problems with the mouse look and screen resolution with Damage Incorporated; I have Prime Target as well but have yet to see if I have the same problems. I also have problems with the sound not playing in Damage Incorporated. When I launch Damage Incorporated it says I don't have enough memory to play sounds; I believe I set the RAM on SheepShaver to 1000 MB.

As for the Mac OS 9 question, 9.0.4. is the latest version usable in sheepshaver.

I tried PrimeTarget and it requires the CD to play. Since I'm using a MacBook Air and Sheepshaver/MacOs 9 apparently doesn't recognize disk images, I'm having trouble. Can anyone here help me out?

Mouse support in Prime Target has always sucked. If the 1.2 patch is installed it is almost passable, but without it, the mouse is useless. The default sheepshaver doesn't actually support mouse input for fps games. You can get a mouse fix version on the emaculation forums somewhere.

The best I've been able to get is Thousands of colors. This is if I set the desktop colors to millions in the monitors and sound control panel. I have also found no way to increase the available resolution. You can set it to full screen in the games preferences, but this removes the HUD and it still isn't full screen (function keys can change this during game play). Hardware acceleration and 16-bit sounds are also unavailable for me. All these things all apply to sheepshaver and my real Powermac G3. The hardware acceleration will almost certainly require a "real" video card.

Also, if the game is asking for the CD, there should be a no cd patch on the Prime Target page here.

Thanks for the help, but I recall with Damage Incorporated the game had terrible lag even when using the keyboard to turn. Is there any way to have the music and cutscenes with the no-cd patch? As I recall Prime Target reads them off of the CD.

Have you tried running with the CD image mounted, using the Virtual DVD/CD Utility from here? This utility is pretty good at fooling software into thinking its in a real CD drive.

Its only a suggestion as I haven't tried it on this particular game. Note, requires enough free disk space on an emulated hard drive to hold the CD image file before mounting it with the utility.

I'm having some trouble getting it to work as well. I did try the Virtual DVD/CD Utility, but an alert box comes up with the message "There are insufficient system resources to mount this image". I'm running OS9 in SheepShaver on a Win 7 64-bit machine if that helps.

That Virtual DVD/CD Utility error message is given for any file it cannot mount, not very helpful or even remotely accurate, I know.

I finally looked at the "Prime Target" page. If the image is the mentioned bin-cue pair, then it has to be burned to a physical CD disk - Great for audio fans but not such good news for Mac emulators.

I know what you mean. I was able to burn a CD in Windows, but it shows in Sheepshaver as an audio CD. And I just read on emaculation that there is no compatible driver for 64-bit Windows to read the discs.

Someone on youtube had a Toast image and I was able to mount it using the Virtual DVD/CD Utility. I got Prime Target to install to my Mac OS HDD image. But then when I tried to actually play, I got the Microsoft Visual Runtime C++ Runtime Library Error alert box.

Am I at least headed in the right direction?

---Edit---
Strangely enough, it sometimes works. Interesting.

"There are insufficient system resources to mount this image".

Saw this in the past as well. Try to increase the Memory amount of CD/DVD Utility, if you've set enough RAM to SheepShaver before.

I had a toast image on my F:\ drive. I've tried a few other images and I've deduced that it won't mount from there. I copied the image itself into my virtual Mac OS HDD and at least got it to mount that way.
