I have some Japanese software that I'd like to get around to uploading one of these days. I have some Japanese version of English games plus several Japan exclusive games. There are several Japanese games already uploaded to this website so I was wondering if we could put all of the Japanese games under a "Japanese" category.
Also I have some pornographic software in Japanese, maybe there should be an "Adult" category then I could upload those too.
To my knowledge the Japanese games here are uploaded because of some artistic merit. I am not too keen on seeing other Japanese games here. Not happy with the pornographic variety either. If you want that, there is loads of it on Adventure Legends, some of it plays on Macs as well.
I have seen plenty of German software uploaded here, but if you don't like Japanese, well I'm sorry to hear that, but I understand that the games can be hard for English speakers to play and understand.
Makes me wonder how many users from Japan actually visit this site.
Must be a lot, at least one or a few visitors that upload japanese stuff.
I have nothing against Japanese games as such...I have uploaded some myself. It is the Anime and Manga stuff I don't like, but that's just me. Maybe I am in the minority, in which case my view is irrelevant.

As for "Japanese" category, maybe start a thread that collects them,
like I've done with the Theme: German History thread.
Japanese software is also welcome to Macintosh Garden !
We already got already some nice share of German, French and Swedish software on this site because we have some users from these countries.
There were some also Japanese-speaking people (e.g. "papa") who DID upload some software in Japanese language !
The only reason, why not more software in Japanese language appears on this website, is that it is very hard to get your hands on them if you don't live in Japan (expensive and/or very rare outside of Japan). So if you have your hands on some Japanese software, don't hesitate to upload them !
Both original Japanese software and localized Japanese language versions of some English games would be nice additions to our website.
Regarding Adult software, you can also upload them ! In fact, we got already some of them, MacPlaymate, MacPlaymate II, Virtual Valerie 2, to name a few.
So it would be nice if you could share your games with us, too !

You must hide them if the MacGarden server recognizes an US visitor.
If requested, we could implement a youth protection system (0yrs, 3yrs+, 6yrs+, 12yrs+, 16yrs+, 18yrs). Games were rated since 1994. So you can add the ESRB rating to the description section. Older games were not rated at all (= adult rating).
But I believe there will be only very few people under 18 years on this site, regarding this website is for an old computer system abandoned more than 10 years now (MacOS 9 funeral was 2002) and the newest games being at least 10 years old.
If it is REALLY leagally requested some day, perhaps demanded registering for viewing the games (maybe but the Early Childhood games) would be a way to go.
If so, the admins may think about, but I would leave it as it is.
Another problem that I've found in tracking down Japanese software is that hybrid discs are less common. Oftentimes a disc that got a Windows/Mac release overseas would be separated into two releases in Japan, and of course the Windows versions are usually the easier to find.
