Zaiphaic, the order form you hotlinked is for Nisus Writer Pro for Mac OS X. I was talking about the old Nisus Writer 6.5 for Mac OS 9. Nisus Writer Pro for OS X has - technically - absolutely nothing in common with the old classic Nisus Writer. Nisus Writer for OS X is a RTF based development of a Japanese writer completly written in Cocoa. The text engines of Nisus Writer Pro/Express for Mac OS X and Nisus Writer classic are so different that you cannot even import texts written with Nisus Writer classic into Nisus Writer Pro without many changes.

ComputerWorks used to have an online order form for a German localization of Nisus Writer 6.5 but they have this no longer. Nisus Writer 6.5 German is very rare as people generelly preferred the original Nisus Writer, because all manuals including the famous "Nisus Way" were written in English. The most interesting thing with the German version are the non English dictionaries.

I do not know of any free release of Nisus Writer 4.1.6 German. Since the German localization is owned by ComputerWorks and not by Nisus, Nisus seems to have made the English version freeware only. ComputerWorks once also sold the Nisus Writer dictionary colllection. Unfortunately, they also, many many years ago, abandoned the sale of separate dictionaries while they were still selling the German localization! So the situation was, you could buy the German localization from ComputerWorks but not any English dictionaries (!!!), or you could buy the English version from Nisus but had no German or any other foreign dictionaries. That sales policies was quite ridiculous in view of the fact that at that time it was standard, for instance, by Microsoft Word, WordPerfect or Adobe to simply include all kinds of foreign dictionaries in any version.

I guess, Nisus wanted to push its new Mac OS X version of the writer which, in its beginnings, was very bad. Of course, this did not quite work out since the much better (and cheaper) Mellel came up. Nisus also had the problem that on Mac OS X they depended on Apple dictionaries which were extremely bad. The result: For many years foreign language hyphenation with Nisus - forget it!

Actually I do use SpellCatcher with NisusWriter - but - SpellCatcher has no hyphenation dictionaries. The result is that, these days I rarely use NisusWriter.
