Hold down the option key when emptying the trash or do a Get Info (Apple + I) and unlock the file before you throw it in the trash.

The file may also be locked because the installer's disk image is mounted. In this case you will need to drag that mounted disk to the trash first to "eject" it.

It may also be that the installer crashed and didn't release all its resources properly. A reboot normally fixes that problem.

On Mac OS X, you may sometimes need an Administrator account to delete it.

In OSX if you crack open the "General" section there is a box you can check/uncheck to lock the file.
In OS 7-8-9 the check box is in the lower left corner of the get info window.
It's there. It has always been there.

Found it in the general section and that fixed the problem thanks. When I bought a PowerBook G4 a few weeks ago for my grandson I didn't know what I could put on it for him then I found this site with all the great software to install and quick answers to my questions now I think I have to find a PowerBook for my granddaughter thanks again for this site and help from members.

I rebuild and sell Powerbooks on ebay.
Mostly Wallstreets, Pismos and Aluminum G4s.
The Titaniums just didn't hold up physically, especially the hinges.
I usually have a couple of 15" Aluminums around.

Nice to see this. I still hold a PowerBook G3 Pismo, although I would prefer an early PowerBook G4.

As I said the Titaniums haven't held up well physically - Titanium turned out to be light but very brittle and prone to cracking. Finding a decent set of hinges is almost impossible. They were the last Powerbooks to boot OS 9 though... Performance wise there is very little difference between a 500MHz G3 Pismo and a 400/500 MHz Titanium unless you are performing operations that take advantage of the vector processor that makes the difference between a G3 and a G4.

I installed 10.4.11 on my dual 2.5GHz G5 with a 128MB Radeon 9600XT, and every game I tried was unplayable (speed-wise). This came as quite a shock, as my 700MHz G4 iMac plays them all smoothly under OS9.2.2 with a crappy GeForce2MX. Maybe it was just a video driver issue, but I was too frightened to mess about with Classic Mode drivers.

700MHz -> 2.5GHz is just over three times as fast, even without the change from G4 to G5 and a faster graphics card.

Some emulators have the ability to change the speed of the enclosed system, but I'm not sure about Mac emulators. Maybe G3 Throttle will work on a G5 and slow it down for you.

For 3D Doom-clones you could also try turning all the graphics options up to full or (if possible) not allowing the game to change to lower resolutions / colour depth.
