Steam is Windows-only, so the files hosted here are still abandonware because they're for the Mac, right?

Meanwhile, these games are $4.99 a pop. People who want to see Lucas Arts get back into the adventure biz, or to at least show (more) respect to their old titles should think about buying one or two of them.
Yeah I already own quite a few of the originals, but I bought them at a much greater price.
I should modify that post to say that you should buy one or two of them... if you've got a PC.

But can they run on an actual original Mac?
They won't run on the same Mac they were originally released on... Like you won't be playing "Steam Loom" on a Macintosh LC (which is where I first played Loom).
In fact, I believe the Steam versions are re-packaged copies of the Windows version in some kind of compatibility wrapper. I don't know for sure though as I haven't bought it and don't plan to, because I already own the original version(

That's really awesome that Steam is now selling old games for Macintosh users. That's what I was talking about in the original thread here discussing Steam. They are using a compatibilty wrapper or emulator that they developed in-house, I think... as I recall they are not using SCUMMVM at all.
I think that Steam sometimes uses DOSBOX to sell old games to PC users. There is no reason they couldn't use that to sell the same games to Mac users. Heck, maybe they are already. I haven't logged into Steam in quite awhile.
And if Apple were to play ball with the ROM image (not likely) they could maybe use a Mac emulator to make some other titles available.
Unfortunately it seems that Apple is not interested in old stuff, and good, accurate emulators are very hard to write.
