Strategic Conquest

Five months ago I purchased the 4.01 version of Strategic Conquest from Delta Tao. It cost $24.95. The link to download was dead. The site where the downloads for purchased software from Delta Tao (http://www.joedelta.com) is provisioned has since lost its DNS pointer (the domain name has expired).

I have tried on multiple attempts to contact someone at Delta Tao about my unfulfilled software, but there is never any response.

I think it is time to call this specific software title ABANDONED.

Will someone please make this software available on Macintosh Garden?

Thanks

Interesting - I hope Joe is OK!

While I would love to see Strategic Conquest on here (along with other Delta Tao stuff), two thoughts spring to mind:

1) Confirming that Joe / Delta Tao have indeed abandoned the IP and;

2) Hopefully EA won't scoop them up and be a-holes and forbid the abandonware being up-loaded here just because...well...they're EA*.

* yes, I am bitter that Archon isn't allowed to be upped here because EA says so, even though they have no apparent commercial plans for the game. Roll on copyright expiry....

How would one go about confirming that Joe and/or Delta Tao have abandoned the IP? I would be fine of they did not abandon the IP if they would just provide a link so that folks purchasing their software could actually download it.

Thanks

I also recently (2 weeks ago) purchased Strategic Conquest and also found the download link to be dead. I have not yet received any replies to my emails to h...@deltatao.com and j...@deltatao.com. Has anyone else tried to contact Joe in the past two months?

Dare I suggest that the fastest way to see if he's still around / active would be to post Strategic Conquest here on the Garden, and await the response?

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Not sure what else we're supposed to do if he won’t respond to emails. I did escalate my PayPal payment to conflict resolution, so we’ll see if I hear anything through that channel. I would still like a copy of the game I bought though...

Nothing came of my PayPal complaint. I did not receive any contact from Joe, and I still have not received any replies to my emails. The company must be defunct now. Looks like I flushed $25 down the toilet.

I hear ya - I lost $50 buying an old titanium powerbook from someone on ebay who seems to have gone AWOL despite a long and positive trading history. Perhaps he died - can hardly fault someone for that!

As a silver lining, I think we could now try to get Strategic Conquest reinstated here on The Garden for download.

I think your efforts demonstrate pretty clearly that it is now abandoned.

Edit: But since it was requested to be removed (presumably by the copyright holder) I doubt that we can put it back even if it is abandoned.

For what it's worth, I was able to guess the correct download URL for the game, so at least it is (theoretically) available for people that purchased it. I still have not received any responses from Joe.

As an aside, I thought they fixed the 2-player destroyer in the game. Isn't it supposed to move 8 sectors instead of 6 in 2-player? I remember people complaining about it in version 2.

I just did the same thing. Paid via PayPal and got a bad download link. Any chance you can post some hints at getting to the correct download link?

Just found the correct URL. Take the bad URL and substitute the domain part (xxx.com) with "deltatao.com/downloads/" and you should be good.
