USB Floppy Disk Drive for Mac by Maclly Drivers?

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/313ZD46SPYL._SY300_.jpg
My brother picked me up one of these as a garage sale, and gave it to me, I have some old Disks I'd love to get data off of (I only have an OS9 TiBook), and it looks like it needs drivers perhaps?

Google took me here: http://macally.com/EN/techsupport/drivers/drivers.html

But the drivers page for it doesn't load for me. Anyone happen to have the drivers for this guy?

Hi. You can still DL drivers for this drive via the WayBack Machine, here.

However; There are no Mac drivers (only PC drivers).

For iBook, iMac(350/400), and PowerMac G4, USB Mass Storage Support should be built into the Mac OS ROM file that shipped as part of their Mac OS 8.6 or Mac OS 9.0. USB Mass Storage Support is an integral part of the Mac OS ROM file and automatically supports all Power Macintosh system with built-in USB.

For PowerBook G3 with any 3rd party USB adapter, It is assumed that you had installed USB Adapter Card Support. Therefore, there is no need to download USB Mass Storage Support v 1.3.5

I'm afraid this drive won't work with 800K disks Sad

Or 400K SD disks. This is typical of USB external floppy disk drives, not only this model.

1.4MB HD media will be OK tho' and manufacturers drivers won't be required on the OP's Tibook.

Thanks for the replies, it does appear to work 'out of the box' so to speak with 1.4mb disks, but as you mentioned doesn't work for smaller sizes.

So what is the best way to get files off a <800kb disk these days?

Sad to say; The only way is to have a Macintosh beige G3 or 1st gen Powerbook G3 with floppy disk module or any other model Macintosh manufactured earlier than these, with a working built-in floppy disk drive.

[Edit] There were also external Macintosh floppy disk drives available. But these require a Macintosh with an external DB-19 floppy serial port (very old Macs like the Classic, SE, SE/30, etc;) & likely would have internal floppy drives anyway.

I'd be happy to transfer them to whatever format you want - CD - Zip100 disk - USB stick.
Or I have several G3 Wallstreets for sale (that will eventually go on ebay) if you want to tackle it yourself.
