Will This Download for OS 9.2.2 work on a Powerbook G3? [SOLVED]

This one here: http://www.macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-os-922-ibook-install

Will this iBook disk work on a Powerbook G3 Lombard? The description says 'Not just for iBook, but some other G3's'.

If it won't work....will it tell me before it installs or ruins anything on my own hard drive?

Thanks!

Edit: Solved! It worked. :3. It'll work on all Powerbook G3's, except the original one.

I used an emac 9.2.1 install cd that is floating around on my g3 wallstreet. Then I used the update to 9.2.2

It might work. First, according to the image of the disc, it's not 9.2.2, it's 9.2.1, and your PowerBook G3 Lombard probably came with a restore disc of Mac OS 8.6, so if it didn't come with a Mac OS 9.x.x disc, you'll need a retail disc to install it, after which you'd have to use one or more Mac OS 9 updaters to get to 9.2.2.

It should tell you it won't work by refusing to install, but even if it doesn't, the only thing it could screw up is your Mac OS installation; your existing files would still be there. Even so, you should always have a fully bootable backup of your hard drive to avoid the consequences of Murphy's Law.

Hey there Mulder.

I just used this disc, I can confirm it /is/ a 9.2.2. disc, even if it says 9.2.1.

Number 2, it installed over my 9.0 seamlessly. You only need 9.1. if you're /upgrading/ rather than doing a clean install or outright replacing your old system folder/files with it. (Which I needed it for, a clean install.)

It worked great, otherwise, now my Powerbook doesn't seem so bloated with all this extra trash that it came with when I got it. ;P.
