This game seems to crash alot in OS9, i discovered that with extensions off it would work flawlessly... I was able narrow it down to quicktime. I went into extensions manager sorted by package and disabled all of the quicktime compenents and i was good to go...
Im running os 9 on a 466 clamshell with quicktime 5.0.2
Update: I have experimented with quicktime extensions on and I have discovered that all the game really wanted was more ram... I gave 16m preferred and 64m max...
Now reuploaded, but as a bin-cue this time. I got the updater from the Old Mac Archive. A temporary link to the updater is http://macintoshgarden.org/sites/macintoshgarden.org/files/games/heroesp...
can you reupload, please?
To get music take the mp3s and create a mixed mode disc with the data on one partition and the music on the other... OF Course make sure the cd is labeled HEROES
thanks for new link
This currently does not include the CD-Audio tracks. They may be included in the future as MP3s, but not as a full CD disk image. At least not until a 512Kbps connection is considered "average".
Any information on compatibility would be appreciated. I have not tested it in an emulator. Also, I found that the game is not afraid to crash under Mac OS 8.5.1. It might run better with minimal extensions enabled.
As far as I know, the disk image must be mounted to run. I'm not sure if copying the files to the hard drive will suffice.
