The download above is a CD rip of the full game, but the mirror below includes the complete CD.

Strange: whilst saved games don't load on OS 9, they load on OS 8.6!
The file from the old MacGarden was version 1.0.4 from 1992, being 68k only (not available yet).
This one has been created around 1996/97, including both 68k + PowerPC code,
so it should run on Basilisk as well as on SheepShaver.
The mirror I added is a full version of the game. Tried to upload it to the site itself the other day but apparently server is full.
Try Bugmenot entries.

Downloads require a fileplanet account, which I am not willing to get.
Here is infos from CD rip version:
1997 The 3D0 Company
Heroes of Might & Magic II 1.0
Here is infos from MacMager:
Freeware application that changes Mage Guild data
in Heroes of Might & Magic II game files,
Spell distrubution will not be 'official' but will
be better than what HOMM2 (v1.0.2) for Mac provides.
Check main file for "1.0" string, and if you have 1.0.1 or 1.0.2 version please put main (game and editor) files online. Thanks!
BTW. Sorry for my very poor english.
@MacWise: you´re quite right here. 3DO themselves didn´t supply any patch Mac version of MoM II as of their page archived here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20011220105640/http://www.3do.com/support/mac...
I´m afraid I didn´t put my shoulder into reading the texts all way through.
No Mac patches for the Mac version of this game.
Checked all the usual download sites, macgamefiles, versiontracker, macupdate, etc. nothing - except a Windows patch on versiontracker.
Checked info-mac archive downloads and discussion threads, no mention. If it's not ever been mentioned here, it never existed.
Checked my 800 cds/dvds of magazine cover cds, game update cd's. Nothing.
Checked the NewWorldComputing and 3DO sites on archive.org - check them for dates back in 2000 and before, rather than most recent which rely heavily on PHP to deliver pages. No indication of any HMM2 patches for Mac.
There were HMM patches for Mac, for HMM3 and HMM4 and maybe HMM5. And there was a HMM2 saved game editor app available, but nothing like a patch for Mac.
Still this doesn't preclude the possibility that an updated version was used in the retail box later.
Does anyone have an exact version number for the one here ? I may still have this, I'll check my version number, and upload if it's more recent.
For other titles, yes, but for Heroes of Might and Magic 2, no, because it seems there was no patch issued for it. Oh well, the DOS version it is.
Yep, sorry for that one. Try these two;
http://www.patches-scrolls.de/
or http://dlh.net/cgi-bin/dp.cgi?lang=ger&cap=all&sort=date&count=25&sys=mac
They both keep older patches so it could be useful to other tiles as well.
Thank you for your effort SwedeBear but the patch link is dead (it points to 3do.com and that company ceased to exist over five years ago). We'll just have to keep looking.
@MacWise & smithfield: check here if it´s there!

Haven´t got this game meself so I couldn´t try this stuff. HTH!
There is an official patch which fixes this problem. I have not been able to track it down. But somebody's gotta have it!
CB60's right. I get an out of memory error when trying to load a saved game. I can do the same without problem with the first part, so I'm guessing the game was no-CD-cracked and these are the consequences. Can anyone load saved games in Mac OS 8 or 7?
Works under Classic - but you can't load saved games...
