F/A-18 Hornet won't play with serial provided

I would really love to play F/A-18 Hornet (any version really). I played the Classic version during my childhood and it was hours of fun. Blowing those MiGs out of the sky really made me proud, and when I could land and remember to lower those dang flaps, it was great. I was thrilled to find it on this site, but when I open it, it asks for a serial number. It then quits upon entering it correctly, and when I launch it again it says, "Sorry, but this copy of F/A-18 Hornet seems to be in use by another user. Please purchase a copy of the package for each user." How can I get rid of this? Thanks so much,
Jonas

Could you verify the version of Hornet you are running? 1.x.x, 2.x.x or 3.x.x? The error you're getting appears when a copy of the game using the same serial number is running on another computer on your network, but that's not what you're doing, right? If you're trying to run 2.0 in SheepShaver, it will not work. Use Basilisk II.

I'm using plane 2.0.1, the very second f/a-18 game ever created. It's not running on any other computer or anything here, and I'm running it in Classic Support under OS 9.2.2.

Euryale's 2009, September 2 comment on the "F/A-18 Hornet 2.0.1" page is interesting.

It is known that Hornet 2.0 doesn't work with PowerPC and PowerPC emulation. See this and this. I have experienced these problems, as well as the one you're facing, when trying to run it in SheepShaver. I have not seen any evidence showing that there is a way to run it under PPC. Therefore, just run it in Basilisk II, or a 68k Mac. Hornet Classic and 3.0 run under PPC. Note that 3.1 and Korea don't run very well in SheepShaver, but 3.0.1 will.
