I'm just wonderng, since public beta is barely even close to mac os x....maybe is there a way to run it on there? I have the .dmg file

well when i went online to their website it said it may be compatible with first releases of os x

I did set up OSX 10.2 on my Windows host with PearPC some time ago.
If you look for OSVirtual, you may even find the ISO images needed. 
As for SheepShaver, SS patches the 4MB OldWorld or the 2MB NewWorld ROM to run the Classic OS on X86 boxes, creating a fake PPC9500/9600 environment.
Looking at the 9600´s specs, you will notice that 9.1 was the last OS for Gestalt ID=67 Macs.
That said, not even the original PPC 604e could run OSX. (officially)
No BSD kernel based OS will ever work with SheepShaver, I´m afraid.

i thought 10.2 could be forced onto 604 based powermacs? or is that only ones with a g3 upgrade?

XPostFacto says the 604e should be good enough for Puma or maybe? Jaguar.

ohh, i might have some fun on friday and install my spare 36gb 15k drive in my powermac 8600 and force 10.2 onto it 
wonder if the control pannel for the dos compatibility card will run under classic....

Possibly will be OK... be good to hear if it does. You can still dual boot of course.
I had to use XPostFacto on a beige G3 to get Panther onto it.

thats what im thinking.....oohhh this seems to be a good port project....
another thing im thinking is that there is only one file of mac os x public beta and that's a torrent.... so maybe if someone else has a copy of public beta and they don't mess up the rip....then we can find out this answer....but for now its blank

PearPC can't run anything earlier than 10.1. You'll need a Mac no newer than the Public Beta itself.
