Ubuntu One file service to be shut down

The Ubuntu One file service is announced to be shut down at 01 June 2014. All hosted data will be deleted after 01 August 2014. (Link)

I saw at least 3 downloads on Macintosh Garden that used Ubuntu One.

Can you saved them for the future and upload them max1zzz's file server as already done with the downloads hosted at rapidshare (Link) ?

Thanks for reporting.

Using the MacGarden search feature, I found these entries:

Arthur's Birthday (other mirrors available)

StarFighter 3000 (Ubuntu One being the only mirror for now.)

If someone finds other files hosted at Ubunto One, please report.

I read the bad news today as well.
Not as much impact as the closing down of the MF accounts obviously.
Also U1 automatically synchronizes the uploads to a running Ubuntu instance.
All files should be safe that way.

Another one I saw is:
Cinderella: The Original Fairy Tale

Hi,

We are writing to you to notify you that we will be shutting down the
Ubuntu One file services, effective 1 June 2014. This email gives
information about the closure and what you should expect during the
shutdown process.

As of today, it will no longer be possible to purchase storage or music
from the Ubuntu One store. The Ubuntu One file services apps in the Ubuntu,
Google, and Apple stores will be updated appropriately.

As always, your content belongs to you. You can simply download your files
onto your PC or an external hard drive. While the service will stop as of
1 June, you will have an additional two months (until 31 July 2014) to
collect all of your content. After that date, all remaining content will
be deleted.

If you have an active annual subscription, the unused portion of your fees
will be refunded. The refund amount will be calculated from today's
announcement.

We know you have come to rely on Ubuntu One, and we apologise for the
inconvenience this closure may cause. We've always been inspired by the
support, feedback and enthusiasm of our users and want to thank you for
the support you've shown for Ubuntu One. We hope that you'll continue to
support us as together we bring a revolutionary experience to new devices.

The Ubuntu One team

A reasonable notice. Sad to see a ad-free file server going oflline though.

I can re-up Cinderella and C-Major if needed. mrdav pretty much saved everything from here, so copies should be available.

Are there any limits at all? could i say upload the Mac OS Anthology sets?

I'll have to start checking everything i host for mg to see if any of it hasn't already been uploaded here

1GB per file, to keep things reasonably sane for the HTTP server, so split large files (for now). Go ahead.

Stuff that was uploaded before is being migrated. This will take a few days.

Nice, i'll split those disks up then ready for upload, they haven't been readily available for a while
