What games need to be mirrored?

Post here the games or apps that need to be uploaded to a file hosting site because they're not being seeded.

AutoCAD, Appleworks and more, can be downloaded from this Mediafire link:

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=b88e2ce4ed1308ff91b20cc0d07ba4d2499b7...

Hopefully someone uploads MYTH II, I've been looking for that for quite some time.

Huh. I thought Myth II had been done. Well, I'll see if I can find it. I know I've got it somewhere.

Yes, The MYTH II page is here but from the beginning, the download was a torrent from
"The Pirate bay" web site, and I/we could never get it (no seeders)

So, hopefully you have the time to upload that game, and if you do so,
Please, don't upload it as .dmg file

On a side note, I'd like to emphasize our craving for this game as well:
- Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim -

Thanks.

Myth II is a hybrid CD so the best format would a zipped toast image. For more information, check A Beginner's Guide for Uploading Stuff to Macintosh Garden.

Carl, thanks for doing Majesty (even though I have the original media too). I've been trying to work out how an average user can re-combine the game track and a number of audio tracks into a full retail cd. It used to be easy in Toast 5 Titanium, but my Toast 7 Titanium doesn't seem to be able to do it.

There's nothing to stop us burning any mp3's to an audio cd (perhaps a cd-rw), then ripping that audio cd into a Toast image and burning the two images (game and audio) onto the one physcal cd. I did this many times years ago with Age of Empires. We may not even need to burn the audio cd, we may even be able to just add the mp3 files and burn.

I've made about a dozen coasters trying every possible permutation in Toast 7. I'll go back to Toast 5 when I get the chance. Does anyone use Toast 6 ?

Thanks so much Carl for the Majesty game Upload!,

As far as the CD audio, I did the same for Carmageddon 1, which I just wanted a back up of my CD,
and since I had done back up copies of my Playstation 2 games before, I just did the same for everything else,
Carmageddon has the whole game in the first track and from the 2nd track has the Audio tracks (7) so you can also play it on a regular home stereo

http://macintoshgarden.org/games/carmageddon-1-full-cd

- I made an .ISO image (within Windows XP) using Alcohol 120%
- compressed and Split it using WinRar (for easy upload/download)

That's All,

The .ISO burns as an Exact Clone of the original CD with the Audio tracks.

hope that helps.

now, excuse me while I download Majestic. Smile

These games need to be re-uploaded as zip files. Right now they're in rar format and that's a big no for Mac OS 7-9.

Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition (Power PC)
UNREAL Full CD Version

Sorry MacWise but I won't re-upload them again, It takes too much time,
they upload at an average of 8kbps- 15kbps from my connection.

and they are intended to be uncompressed within Windows and you'll get the .TOAST Mac ready image, ready to be burned within Windows(as .NRG) or Mac (as .toast)
(I don't have a real Mac)
I'm sure most people has an extra windows PC where the can uncompress them,
the files burn fine, because I test them. and I made my back up copies this way.

so hopefully someone has the time to re-upload them.

Don't worry, Euryale, I was thinking of somebody else doing it all along. Otherwise, I would have addressed you directly.

I have a Windows XP laptop. I could do it. The problem is I'm not interested in those games, so I don't feel like downloading all that stuff just to rejoin it, zip it, upload it somewhere and then delete it from my machine.

Hopefully somebody who already downloaded one of those games and transferred the CD image to his or her Mac might be willing to do it. Hopefully.

But since you brought it up, I say you should try to avoid using rar in the future because the Mac had never supported it well and this is a Mac-centric site after all.

In the meanwhile, to expand rar files Mac OS X users could try
UnRarX
BetterZip
RarMachine
The Unarchiver
Zipeg

I've updated Unreal with a new download link. The game works fine for me in classic mode, though there are some minor graphical issues.

I have a mirror of an old version of this site (great that it's back BTW!) at garden dot nickshanks.com. Please do not post direct links to it elsewhere, as I don't have much upload bandwidth, but it might be useful for torrents with no seeds. The only thing I can guarantee is that I haven't tried to unarchive/play most of the files!

These games don't need to be mirrored, but they need to be converted from Mac OS X zips to DiskDup+ images.

>Hack
HangMan
HeloMath
Hex

More info about this procedure at A Beginner's Guide for Uploading Stuff to Macintosh Garden.

Thanks MacWise, I've converted them into Disk Copy 6.3 img.sit files stuffed with Stuffit 4.0

The following titles are not available in any form:
Norton SystemWorks
Cosmic Osmo (CD)
3D Ultra Pinball "Thrillride"

And while a new member is offering to host these three games...

Alone In The Dark 2
Alone In The Dark 3
4x4 Evolution

...I'm still going to list them here just in case.

I'd like the Shivers game from that list.

Cheers.

Ironically enough, I'll be heading to somewhere not more than a few miles from you.

Afterlife is already uploaded.

I'd like Starship Titanic (I'm a Douglas Adams fan.)

And WipeOut 2097. You don't know what you're missing.

Starship Titanic, I can start uploading tomorrow night.

Wipeout 2097 ? when Star Wars Episode I: Pod Racer is so much better ??

I would also like Pod Racer. And perhaps since you're coming my way, maybe a few other games in return! Smile

Cheers.

Bertyboy, I long ago gave up choosing whether to upload something or not. Even if I think it's a piece of crap, invariably there's at least one person who worships it. So I just upload everything I have that's abandonware and leave it to others to decide. Only thing ever holds me up is time or space constraints. I've pretty much uploaded everything I've got at this point, unless I dig up interesting nuggets from old MacAddict discs or on the web, or if awesome benefactors send me their crap to scan and upload for them. Smile

Thanks Carl, for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force.
Was often temporarily unavailable, but works now.

Hopefully Elite Force 2 could be posted as well?

Thanks so much!!!

Thanks for Pod Racer, MileStones! Unfortunately, it says you have to 'update' OpenGL to 1.1.2. Even if you do, it still refuses to run. Does anyone else have this problem?

Carl - Pod Racer,

Which Mac / OS are you using ?
I get the OpenGL warning even under OSX 10.4 running Classic 9.2.2. I just ignore it and it plays perfectly.
MileStones beat me to the upload of Pod Racer, but I'll create a page for it.

I got it from this website of an older upload, and it mounts only with Toast!
My Classic is broken, though I couldn't test...

Try just copying this folder from the disk image:
Star Wars Episode I Racer

It should contain everything, making installer unnecessary...

I tried the new one you uploaded (Pod Racer). It seems the other one didn't have any movies in it, because it plays them before it loads (you asked what was the difference on the game page). The game no longer asks me to install OpenGL, but it still quits while loading. Sad

My computer is also a PBG4, but 867 MHz.

I'm using 10.4.11 with Mac OS 9.2.2 as my classic version. I don't know where I got it, I've been using the same folder for years. It's probably from the last Mac OS 9 computer I had. QuickTime is version 6.0.3 in Mac OS 9, latest version in Mac OS X.

My monitor is definitely capable of 640x480, I use that a lot (for games). It's pretty small, maximum resolution is 1024x768.

I tried locking the disc image (wasn't locked before), but no difference. Even with the patch applied, the game still quits. Sad

Not good news, Pod Racer runs perfectly under Classic on OSX 10.4.11 on my PBG4:
QuickTime v7.4 on OSX
QuickTime v6.0.3 in Classic
OpenGL v1.2.4 in Classic
Monitor originally set to Millions of colours.
Locked .img disk image mounted with DiskImageMounter - which gives me the warning about it maybe being from an unreliable source (it's on a USB stick).

But, when I start it up, it switches me back to the Finder (at 640x480 resolution). The Pod Racer icon is still in the dock. If I click on it, it brings up the OpenGL warning, I hit Escape to ignore it. And it plays fine.

Wha about versions for CarbonLib and all that other stuff that isn't updated through the OS9.2.2 update.

As said, I do remember having the symptom you're seeing, but it was so long ago.

Edit:
===
Ah, it might have happened to me before because I had volume names with spaces or other non-alphanumeric characters. That certainly broke a few games, but I remember it being one or more of the Civilization or Age of Empires games.

Carl's picture

CarbonLib is version 1.6.1

My volume is called "Macintosh HD", can that really break games? It's been the basic name since forever. I changed it to "MacintoshHD", but to no avail.

I tried WipeOut 2097, and that also quits when I start it. Maybe my computer doesn't like racing games. Tongue
